The Norwegian authorities have announced that everyone who holds a valid visitor’s visa, those who have a residence permit as well as those who don’t need a visa will be permitted to enter Norway starting from November 26.
This means that Norway will no longer apply rules depending on the country from where a person is travelling as the borders will open for all foreigners who have the right to enter under the Immigration Act.
Nonetheless, everyone will still be required to meet specific entry rules, including strict border controls, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.
“The Government has announced that from November 26, the entry rules to Norway will change back to how they were before the Corona situation. Upon entry, there will be stricter control at the border, including requirements for a negative test upon entry and registration for everyone entering Norway, including Norwegians,” the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) stated.
Based on a press release issued by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security of Norway, the current entry requirements will be extended due to the current epidemiological situation.
Starting from November 26, all persons over the age of 16 will be required to register their entry and present their registration confirmation during the police checks.
In addition, the same ministry has revealed that the country will reintroduce pre-entry testing. This means that travellers who have not been fully vaccinated against the virus with one of the vaccines accepted for travel as well as those who haven’t recovered from the disease, will be required to undergo COVID-19 testing before entering Norway.
“To limit import infection, we are tightening the entry measures from November 26. From that date, everyone must register before entering Norway. On the basis of health professional advice, we also reintroduce the requirement for a negative test taken before entry,” Minister of Justice and Emergency Management Emilie Enger explained.
The pre-entry test should be taken within 24 hours before reaching Norway. The testing requirement will apply to everyone regardless of their origin country unless they hold one of the two certificates that fall under the EU Digital COVID-19 Certificate.
Those who fail to comply with Norway’s entry rules will not be permitted entry to the country. The authorities noted that all travellers, including Norwegians, will be reported and fined if they violate entry rules.
