Police were called to a house on Highland Street in Wavell Heights at about 7.45am today after reports that a man in his late 30s had been shot.
It’s believed there had been an altercation with a group of people at the home before the shooting occurred.
Police confirmed a man was seen fleeing in a silver car shortly after.
Police believe the victim was known to his attacker.
Nearby residents performed CPR on the man before emergency services arrived.
“He’s been transported to hospital in a critical condition,” the police spokesperson said.
“And a crime scene has since been declared while investigations continue.”
It’s been confirmed several residents live in the house, including young children.
Residents in the neighbourhood said it wasn’t uncommon to see police at the residence and that officers had raided the property weeks ago.
“The windows are all blocked up so that gets everyone suspicious, everybody here that I’ve spoken to is very suspicious of what’s going on there,” neighbour Barry said.
“We hope that now they move out.”
Nobody has been charged in relation to the incident, with police taking statements from the house’s adult residents to assist with investigations.
