The New York Jets have had a revolving door at quarterback ever since Zach Wilson went out with a knee injury.

Mike White and Joe Flacco have gotten starts, while veteran journeyman Josh Johnson has played well in relief.

At first, a 400-yard performance from White made it seem as if he could compete for the full-time job.

Then came a dud performance that inserted Flacco into the starting lineup.

The veteran got the start in Week 11 in what ended up being a 24-17 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

He did throw two touchdowns, but it was nothing special as the Jets fell to 2-8.

Wilson remained on the sidelines recovering from a knee injury and there was a possibility they kept him there after a rough start to the season for the rookie.

That will not end up being the case according to news that broke Tuesday.

White received a positive COVID-19 test and Flacco is a close contact.

Thus, Wilson is getting the start in a winnable game against the Houston Texans.

Wilson Is Back

COVID tests aside, Wilson getting the starting job back may be for the best.

He has played in six games this season and has four touchdowns and nine interceptions.

It is clear he needs much more development and a game against the lowly Texans could be a great way to build his confidence.

However, it must be mentioned that the Texans defense forced Ryan Tannehill to throw four interceptions this past week.

The Jets being 2-8 takes all the pressure off Wilson.

That was not the case at the start of the season when every team is thinking about making the playoffs.

He can play free and the Jets can try out some new things on offense with a quarterback who is actually a part of the future plans.
