TV author Eric Chappell, the brains behind sitcoms Rising Damp and Home to Roost, has died on the age of 88

TV author Eric Chappell has died on the age of 88.
The proficient author was behind hit sitcoms Rising Damp – which gained a BAFTA in 1978 – and Home to Roost.
Information of his demise was confirmed by Home to Roost star Reece Dinsdale who tweeted: “Just heard that Eric Chappell, the writer of Home to Roost, Rising Damp & many other shows died on Thursday.
“Thanks for every part you probably did for me, sir. Your scripts have been an entire pleasure to play. Nice occasions!
“My love & deepest sympathies to his friends & family. RIP Eric.”
