After a very long and important season, the Boston Celtics are finally resting.

The only good thing about them losing in the NBA Finals to the Golden State Warriors is that they now can take some time off and heal from the rough-and-tumble, knock-down, drag-out season they just went through.

Sure enough, they are all planning to get some R&R.

President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens touched upon the status of the team and the physical toll they had endured.

He put it plainly, saying, “Those guys just need some rest.”

No one is going to argue with that.

Stevens went on to add that Robert Williams III needs to be off his feet and that doctors said he had no risk of injuring himself by playing in the Finals.

All in all, it sounds like the Celtics are exhausted and a little downtrodden but not seriously injured.

That bodes well for the team because they will be back at it next season.

It’s rather surprising that more Boston players didn’t miss time due to injuries this season.

They are a young, powerful, and athletic team but the season is long and intense and you’d think a few more guys would have gotten roughed up.

There were injuries of course – Robert Williams, as noted – but for the most part, the team remained healthy when it mattered most.

Headed into next season, the team will try to build upon what it already has.

That means you’ll be getting a lot more of the same from the Celtics.

Thankfully, that sounds very feasible since the players are still able-bodied and healthy.

Expect the Celtics to remain a strong force in the East when the next season begins.
