ANZ outage resolved after customers left hours without online banking

ANZ has resolved a technical fault that left customers unable to access their internet banking for hours for the second day in a row.

Customers reported being unable to log into their internet banking and the ANZ app from at least 11.30am today.

The technical issue was then fixed hours later at 3.30pm, the bank said on social media.

“The ANZ App and Internet Banking are now working,” the bank said.

“Thank you for your patience and we’re so sorry for the inconvenience.

“If you’re still having trouble accessing the ANZ App please force close and reopen the application.

“If issues persist, please us know.”

An ANZ spokesman previously said the bank had a team of experts working to rectify the technical fault as a “top priority”.

“We’re doing everything we can to restore these systems as soon as possible,” he said.

When making earlier branch closures, ANZ claimed more and more customers were moving online and did not need regular in-branch banking.

“We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause our customers.

“Customers can still access funds through ATMs, eftpos and Apple Pay.”

The technical issue comes after customers could not make payments for several hours yesterday due to an outage.

“We’re aware of an issue impacting the ability to make Pay ID payments via Internet Banking and the ANZ App,” the company shared on Twitter and Facebook yesterday.

Frustrated customers have responded that the issue is “not good enough”, sharing their difficulties caused by the outage.

One woman wrote she was unable to pay for her supermarket shopping yesterday and another customer had to pay for her groceries.
